Book Review - 'We Were Liars' by E. Lockhart

Hi Guys!

I thought I'd tell you about the book I just finished reading! It's called 'We Were Liars' and is written by E. Lockhart. I first heard of this book about a year ago when I was volunteering in my local library over the summer - it had recently come out, and had already become a well reviewed book. I considered reading it way back then, but for some reason never got round to it!

I next came across 'We Were Liars' when I was looking at the nominations for the various categories of the 'goodreads' awards. By this point it was clearly not only popular with critics, but with teenagers and YA's as well! I believe the book went on to win the award by public vote.
The last time I heard about the book was about 2 weeks ago! I was looking back at some of Zoella's recent YouTube videos, and came across her 'Zoella Book Club's' choices for this year! This is where she picks 8 books to share in her WHSmiths book club! She did a quick description of the book and I decided to give it a try!

Once I started reading this book, I was hooked!! It took me about three days to read it, even though I've been very busy! I nearly made myself late heading out this morning because I was so hooked on the book!!

The book is written from the viewpoint of Cadence, a 17 year old girl who spends every summer on the island her grandfather owns. She goes with her mother, and meets her various cousins there, and they spend the summer playing together. When we meet Cadence, she is suffering baby from amnesia - when she was on the island two years previously, she had an accident in the sea causing a brain injury. After 2 years of recovery, Cadence returns to the island for the first time, where she is determined to remember what happened when she was last there 2 years previously - all she really remembers is falling completely in love with Gat, her cousins friend. She also remembers that after the accident, she heard nothing from him. She wants to find out why, and whether she can trust him again. As she regains her memories, Cadence makes some surprising revelation's about her family - she realises they are lying to her....but why?

This book has the BIGGEST plot twist EVER!!! If you're like me and often read the plot of the book up on Wikipedia, I BEG YOU NOT TO DO IT WITH THIS BOOK!!!! You will become a detective while reading this book - you will turn all sorts of scenarios over in your head...but I bet you won't guess the ending!!

Let me know in the comments what you think of this book, but no spoilers please!

Thanks for reading, and don't forget to subscribe to my blog on the right of the page!
